Fast, Safe Service When You Need It
Three houses on Durham Road went dark last month—all on the same street, all tripped breakers that wouldn’t reset. Turns out, every single one had panels from the 1980s trying to power 2025 homes. If your lights flicker when you run the microwave or your panel feels warm to the touch, you’re probably next.
We’ve been upgrading electrical panels in Wake Forest since 2012, back when Heritage High School was still under construction. Most homes around Heritage and the Holding Village area were built when 100-amp panels were standard. Now? Your EV charger alone needs nearly half that.
Signs Your Panel Needs an Upgrade Right Now
Your panel is basically the heart of your home’s electrical system. When it can’t keep up, weird stuff starts happening. Breakers trip for no reason. Outlets stop working upstairs but work fine downstairs. You smell something burning but can’t find the source.
some older panels are actually dangerous—they can fail to trip during overloads. We’ve replaced several of these panels in the older neighborhoods near downtown Wake Forest. Insurance companies won’t even cover some homes with these panels anymore.
Modern panels give you 200 amps minimum, which is what most homes actually need now. Think about it—phone chargers, laptops, wifi routers, smart home devices, plus all your regular appliances. Your 1990s panel wasn’t built for this.
Electrical Wiring Installation
Sometimes the panel is fine but the wiring isn’t. We see this a lot in the newer developments in the area—builders did the minimum to pass inspection. When you’re upgrading your panel, we check every wire feeding into it. Aluminum wiring, undersized copper, connections that got loose over time—all of it gets fixed or replaced.
Adding a home office or workshop? New wiring installation makes sure you’ve got dedicated circuits where you need them. No more running extension cords across rooms or worrying about overloading outlets.
Home Rewiring
Full home rewiring sounds scary and expensive. Sometimes it is necessary though, especially in homes built before 1970. We recently rewired a beautiful old house on South White Street—original knob and tube wiring hidden behind the walls for decades.
Most rewiring jobs can take a few days depending on house size. We work in sections so you’re not without power the whole time. And yes, there’s some drywall work involved, but we patch everything back up and make it look like nothing happened.
Circuit Breaker Replacement
Not every electrical problem needs a full panel upgrade. Sometimes you just need new breakers. They wear out after years of tripping and resetting. A breaker that keeps tripping isn’t necessarily faulty—it might be doing its job protecting an overloaded circuit.
We stock breakers for every major panel brand. Square D, Siemens, Cutler-Hammer, Murray—got them all on the truck. If you’ve got an oddball brand or discontinued model, we can usually get it within a day or two.

The next day White’s plumbing dug the broken pipe out, removed the roots, replaced the pipe and did a camera inspection of the entire line leading to the house and into the street.
They were also able to successfully find the house clean out which was under a bush a landscaping contractor had covered up years ago. They raised the pipe and put on a new cover for the house clean out.
They communicated well, were thorough and prompt. They finished the day before our 5 inch snow storm.
Above all else they wanted us to be set before the snow came.
They were also very reasonable in price. The coordination between Keith, the office staff and the plumbers was great!
White’s is very responsive, exactly what you need and expect when you’re having plumbing problems. They showed up the same day we called them.
Eric came out to our house to fix an issue with a drain pipe and a water pipe. He was very professional! He called before he arrived and told us what time to expect him. He was on time! He was friendly and explained exactly what he was doing.
Eric’s troubleshooting skills are great. He started with the simple things to check and moved on from there. He was respectful of our property and only cut into the wall when there was no other choice. The way he was able to triage the issue, he was able to pinpoint the issue and only cut into the wall where necessary.
Once he found the issue, Eric was able to fix it quickly and using quality materials. It’s probably better than when it was first put in!
I highly recommend White’s Plumbing. If Eric services your area, ask for him!
